One of the most important things parents do for their children, is to arrange their marriages with suitable and good partners. No muslim can ever imagine agreeing to marry their children, especially girls to disbelievers.
Allah has stated in the Quran,
ولا تنكحوالمشركين حتى يؤمنوا. ..
"And do not marry mushriks (kaafirs) until they believe. A believer who is a slave is better than any mushrik (kaafir), even though he (kaafir) pleases you..."
Surah Baqarah Chapt 2 verse 221.
When Rasoolullah sallallaho alaihe wasallam gave two of his daughters to Hazrat Uthmaan radhi Allaho anho, he therefore endorsed his imaan that he is a true believer.
Just as Rasoolullah sallallaho alaihe wasallam's two daughters were married to Hazrat Uthmaan, Hazrat Ali's two grand-daughters, daughters of Hazrat Husain radhi Allaho anho were married to two grandsons of Hazrat Uthmaan.
Sakina bint Husain bin Ali radhi Allaho anhum was married to Zaid bin 'Amar bin Uthmaan and Fatimah bint Husain radhi Allaho anhum (also known as Fatimah sughra) was married to Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Uthmaan radhi Allaho anhum. Two sisters, grand-daughters of Rasoolullah sallallaho alaihe wasallam married to two brothers, grandsons of Hazrat Uthmaan radhi Allaho anho .Hence proving that just as all the sahaabah had a loving and respectful relationship with each other and especially with the prophet and his family, their descendents continued that love and respect for each other otherwise they would never have agreed to such intermarriages.
