Ruling on organ donation

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

[caption id="attachment_941" align="alignright" width="188"] Khat by Davut Bektas[/caption]

In Islam is it allowed to donate your organs to people that need it, when the die?.

Praise be to Allaah.
In the answer to question no. 49711 we stated that the (scholarly) view that it is permissible to donate organs is most likely to be the correct view, so long as the donation will not lead to the death of the donor.

Here we will quote resolutions of the Islamic Fiqh Council of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, which support the fatwa mentioned above. These resolutions were issued after lengthy discussions among a number of fuqaha’, doctors and specialists. We will quote them here in full because of the medical and shar’i information they contain.

Do the bad things that happen in this universe happen by the will of Allaah

Friday, March 18, 2011

[caption id="attachment_894" align="alignleft" width="161" caption="Kufi"][/caption]

Does everything that happens in this universe happen by the will of Allaah? If that is the case then how can things that Allaah does not like happen under Allaah’s sovereignty and by His will?

Praise be to Allaah.

Praise be to Allaah and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allaah and his family and companions.

You should understand, may Allaah bless you, that some people have been misguided with regard to the issue of al-qadar (the divine will and decree), because they think that if Allaah decrees that an action should happen, that means that He likes that thing,

The difference between taking the kaafirs as friends and seeking theirhelp

Saturday, February 26, 2011

[caption id="attachment_634" align="alignleft" width="192" caption="Kufi by Lutfi"][/caption]

Praise be to Allaah.

Taking the kaafirs as friends (muwaalaah) means supporting them and helping them in matters of kufr, such as the Muslims fighting alongside the kuffaar, such as when the kaafirs launch an assault against a Muslim country and a Muslim befriends them and supports them and helps them in fighting against that country, whether that is with weapons or by supplying them with anything that will help them to fight the Muslims. This is muwaalaah, or a type of friendship that is haraam,

The husband's father and mother have no authority over their son’s wife

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Who has the right to be obeyed: the husband or his mother? What if the mother gives some instructions and the husband gives different instructions -- who is to be obeyed? Especially if the husband and his wife are living in his father's house?
What if the parents tell their son to tell his wife that she should do something, and the husband objects to that? Is she in turn obliged to listen to what her in-laws tell her, against the objections of her husband?.

Ruling on giving infertile women fertility drugs so that they can get pregnant

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Can muslims take fertility drugs?

Praise be to Allaah.

It is permissible for a man to treat himself with permissible medicines which may have an effect on diseases he is suffering, whether the problem is infertility or something else, if there is the hope that these medicines will have a beneficial effect and will not cause much harm to the body.

Evidence Prohibiting of Mixing of Men and Women

Sunday, February 6, 2011

My husband and I wanted to know if it were permissable to take Arabic classes at a college where the classes are mixed (men-women). We understand that there is no mixing between the sexes, but confused about the definition of "mixing". Please tell us what is permissable, what is not and give proof

Praise be to Allaah.

The meeting together, mixing, and intermingling of men and women in one place, the crowding of them together, and the revealing and exposure of women to men are prohibited by the Law of Islam (Shari'ah). These acts are prohibited because they are among the causes for fitnah (temptation or trial which implies evil consequences), the arousing of desires, and the committing of indecency and wrongdoing.

Among the many proofs of prohibition of the meeting and mixing of men and women in the Qur’aan and Sunnah are:

Verse No. 53 of Surat al-Ahzab, or the Confederates (Interpretation of the meaning);

"...for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs..."

Ruling on singling out ‘Ashoora for fasting

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Is it permissible to fast ‘Ashoora’ only without fasting the day before or the day after?
Praise be to Allaah.

Ibn Taymiyah said: Fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ is expiation for one year, and it is not makrooh to single out this day for fasting. Al-Fataawa al-Kubra, part 5.

The virtue of fasting ‘Ashoora’

I heard that fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ expiates for the past year, is this true?
Does it expiate for everything, even major sins? What is the reason for venerating this day?.

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

Fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ does expiate for the past year, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year before it and the year after it, and fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year that came before it.”
Narrated by Muslim, 1162.

Offering gifts to some women on Christmas

Monday, January 17, 2011

There is a common practice here in the west, that at christmas time some non-muslims, young and old, get together and gather all of their names, put them in a hat and have all of the names mixed up, then each person choses the name of another person who they will give a gift to on christmas day. This is called chris kringle. This basic idea was taken on by a group of sisters last year and now they want to take this practise on this year also for the end of eid. All that the practice consists of, is each sister randomly assigned another sister for whom she must buy a gift of a set value ($20 ). Some of the sisters invloved believe that this practsie is tashabu of the kufar, is this correct?
