Engaging in unnecessary speech

Nasihah (Advice): In many instances, engaging in unnecessary speech results in making inappropriate statements which a person later regrets. Sayyiduna Abdullah Bin Mas’oud (Radiyallahu Anhu) used to say: “I caution you about speaking unnecessarily. A person has already said enough by restricting his speech to necessity.” (Ihyaa’, Vol: 2, Pg: 212)
